Abstract

This study presents the design and implementation of a real-time home environment monitoring system by utilizing ZigBee wireless sensor network, aimed to enhance indoor environmental awareness, safety, and resident comfort. Based on the CC2530 development platform, the system integrates ZigBee coordinators, routing nodes and sensor nodes to form an efficient and low-power wireless network. Key environmental factors—such as indoor temperature, humidity, and smoke concentration-are collected by distributed sensor nodes, processed through amplification, filtering, and analog-to-digital conversion, and transmitted over short distances. This setup provides residents with immediate access to environmental data, enabling them to make rational decisions to safeguard their living spaces. In this paper, the hardware architecture, software framework and empirical test results of the system are described in detail, and its practical application in the emerging field of smart home technology is demonstrated.
