The design of electronic filters is fundamental in fields such as signal processing, communication systems, and audio engineering. However, traditional manual design methods often fail to meet evolving performance demands due to inefficiency and complexity. MATLAB, with its advanced numerical computation and signal processing capabilities, provides a robust solution for filter design. This study explores MATLAB’s role in creating and optimizing various filters, including low-pass, high-pass, band-pass, and band-stop filters. MATLAB’s tools, such as the Signal Processing Toolbox and Filter Design and Analysis Tool (fdatool), allow for rapid prototyping, real-time parameter adjustment, and detailed visualization of filter performance metrics. Specific case studies illustrate the application of MATLAB in designing analogue and digital filters, optimizing performance, and enabling real-time signal processing. Despite challenges such as computational demands for high-order filters and hardware integration, MATLAB remains a vital tool. Future advancements in hardware integration and AI-driven design automation will further enhance its utility in complex signal-processing scenarios.
