Abstract

High internal phase emulsions (HIPEs), which are characterized by a dispersed phase volume fraction of more than 74.05%, exhibit unique structural and rheological properties, making them valuable across various industries. HIPEs have been utilized in food, pharmaceuticals, and daily chemical products due to their high surface area and stability. This review investigates the preparation methods of HIPEs, with an emphasis on the impact of raw materials, emulsification techniques, and conditions on emulsion quality. Additionally, the applications of HIPEs in moisturizing lotions, makeup removers, detergents, and absorbent materials are explored to highlight their potential in the daily chemical sector. Evaluating key factors such as particle size distribution, viscosity, and stability, this study aims to identify opportunities for performance optimization. Although significant progress has been made in HIPE development, further research is necessary to enhance their application potential, particularly in daily chemical products.
